Formed in 2014, the Cézanne Quartet is based in Dallas, Texas, where they maintain an active performing career. From 2015-2017, they were named the Peak Fellowship Ensemble-in-Residence at SMU Meadows School of the Arts, becoming the first quartet chosen for the fellowship. At the 2015 Coltman Chamber Music Competition (Austin, TX,) they received Second Place Ensemble in the Senior Division, and in 2017, they were named Semi-Finalists at the Plowman Chamber Music Competition (Columbia, MO.)
The group has performed with the Fine Arts Chamber Players, Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival, Mimir Chamber Music Festival, Music in the Mountains Festival, Bridge the Gap Chamber Series, Meadows Virtuosi Players, Texas Christian University CelloFest, Open Classical Artist Series, Fort Worth Chamber Music Society, and Ensemble 75. They have collaborated with artists such as Andres Diaz, Matt Albert, Aviram Reichert, Lucille Chung, Jonathan Tsay, the Escher Quartet, and the Altius Quartet. They have become frequent performers with the Avant Chamber Ballet, which presents shows at the Moody Performing Arts Center, NorthPark Center and throughout the DFW area. Cézanne has a passion for collaborating with young artists, and has coached chamber music students at Highland Park High School, Greenhill School and the Music in the Mountains Festival, in Durango, Colorado. They also accompanied talented young soloists in the finals of the Ensemble 75 Concerto Competition. In 2018, Cézanne celebrated the release of their first album titled Retrospection, which includes works by contemporary American composer Kevin Puts, and the sixth and final quartets written by Felix Mendelssohn and Béla Bartók. The album was professionally recorded in the beautiful Caruth Auditorium on the Southern Methodist University campus, and is available for streaming on Spotify. |
Eleanor Dunbar |
Violinist Eleanor Dunbar is an accomplished and commanding artist, having performed as a soloist, chamber music enthusiast, and concertmaster. A graduate of Southern Methodist University, she earned her Bachelor’s of Music degree in Violin Performance under the direction of Emanuel Borok. During her education at SMU, she was awarded the prestigious Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award, given to an outstanding music major each year.
A native of California, Eleanor began her musical education at the age of three. Under the tutelage of violinist Gail Gerding, she began her performance career throughout California, entered and placed in many competitions, and appeared as a soloist with symphonies such as the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. From a young age, she attended music festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival and the New York String Orchestra Seminar. At the age of sixteen, she began her undergraduate studies at Southern Methodist University. Eleanor has been honored to share the stage with incredible artists such as Andrés and Roberto Díaz, Emanuel Borok, the Escher Quartet, Chee-fun Kim, and more. She continues to perform throughout the country presenting recitals and performing alongside her Cézanne colleagues. Lauren Haseltine
Lauren Haseltine is the second violinist of the Cézanne Quartet, the inaugural ensemble-in-residence at Southern Methodist University and recipient of the Peak Scholarship. Before her appointment with Cézanne, she was completing a three-year fellowship with the New World Symphony, in Miami Beach. During her time at New World, Lauren was awarded frequent opportunities as a principal player in the orchestra, and has worked with countless renowned conductors and soloists, including Michael Tilson Thomas, Osmo Vanska, Matthias Pintscher, Joshua Bell, Emmanuel Ax and Anne-Sophie Mutter. She has also worked with mainstream artists such as singer-songwriter Bruce Hornsby, and accredited actor, Malcolm McDowell.
Lauren was also an active solo performer while at New World, most notably in her second season when she performed the solo violin part of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 with Jeannette Sorrell, founder of Cleveland’s early music ensemble, Apollo’s Fire. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Lauren completed her Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance studying with Charles Castleman. During her time at Eastman, she was a frequent concertmaster and principal of the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, Eastman Philharmonia, and Eastman Opera Orchestra. Her passion for early music led her to be an active member of the Eastman Collegium ensemble and she performed as a permanent baroque consort member at the Christ Church of Rochester.
Outside of performing, Lauren has also served as Assistant Dean at the Castleman Quartet Program for three summers, where she gained experience in the administrative side of music making. She has enjoyed spending other summers performing at such music festivals as Tanglewood Music Center, AIMS Graz and the Lakes Area Music Festival.

STEVEN JUAREZ
A passionate musician, determined ensemble leader, music administrator and founding member of The Cézanne Quartet, Steven has studied viola since the age of nine. Steven has transformed into an ambitious and enthusiastic ensemble musician.
Steven’s musical journey, development and experience has been a result of performances with The Cézanne Quartet (2015 Coltman Competition Silver Medalist), The New Conservatory of Dallas (Dallas, New York, Durango, CO and Riga, Latvia), The Institute for Strings (Dallas, TX), Meadows Symphony Orchestra at Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX), The Peabody Institute’s Symphony Orchestra (Baltimore, MD) and The National Symphony Orchestra’ Summer Music Institute (Washington, DC). The development of Steven’s musical style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. He has studied, performed and collaborated with extraordinarily talented professionals and ensembles like Arkady Fomin, Andrés Díaz, Matt Albert, Emanuel Borok, Justin Bruns, Rose Armbrust Griffin and the Altius Quartet. Further honing of his talents came from masterclasses with Peter Slowik, Roberto Díaz, Barbara Westphal, Stephanie Chase, Míro String Quartet, Escher String Quartet, American String Quartet, Modigliani String Quartet. Steven has studied at The Peabody Institute of Music as well as Southern Methodist University under the watchful eye of Victoria Chiang and Ellen Rose, respectively. He graduated from the award winning, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas where he won the Dallas ISD Concerto Competition and his chamber quartet won Chamber Music International’s High School Division While continuing his studies, Steven lives in Dallas, TX and currently teaches in the Dallas metro area public school systems of Highland Park, Garland and Mesquite. In his spare time, he enjoys sports, traveling and spending time with his family. |

ELIZABETH WHITECellist Elizabeth White is a founding member of the Cézanne Quartet and an alumna of Southern Methodist University where she studied with Andrés Díaz and Christopher Adkins. Highlights of her career include performances at the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival, the Aronson Cello Festival, the Clandeboye Festival, the Music in the Mountains Festival, the National Orchestral Institute, the Texas Christian University CelloFest, and with the Meadows Virtuosi Players and Meadows Symphony Orchestra. Elizabeth had her solo debut with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra where she played Elgar's Cello Concerto and appeared with the Meadows Chamber Orchestra where she played Haydn's Cello Concerto in C Major. In December 2016, she recorded works by Mendelssohn, Bartók, and Kevin Puts with the Cézanne Quartet to be released in Fall 2018. Elizabeth was a President's Scholar at Southern Methodist University and an Emerson Scholar at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. |
